Statement of Faith

  • A. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, the record of God's revelation of Himself to mankind, fully inspired by the Holy Spirit so that it contains truth without mixture of error, intended to testify to Christ and His redeeming work, and meant to be the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • B. We believe that there is one and only one living and true God, creator of all things, infinite in holiness and all other perfections, eternally existing in three persons; that these three are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.
  • C. We believe in God, the Father, an infinite personal spirit, who concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men.  We believe that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
  • D. We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit.  We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings.  We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to the earth.
  • E. We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ.  We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide, and that He imparts spiritual gifts to believers for the benefit and edification of the church.
  • F. We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation, and that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.
  • G. We believe in the universal church, a spiritual body made up of all regenerated persons from all ages as members and of which Christ is the head.  We also believe in the local church, consisting of a company of baptized believers in Jesus Christ who are associated with worship, work, observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's table, and fellowship.  We believe every believer should seek to be identified with a local church.  We believe God has given the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
  • H. We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well-being of his fellowmen; and that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions which involves seeking to "lay up treasure in heaven"; that he should have concern for the spiritual, physical and social needs of others; and that he should seek to realize for himself and others full maturity in Christ.
  • I. We believe that organizations such as Flame Ministries are not churches per se, and that it is vital that they seek to assist and augment the ministry of the local churches true to the teachings of Christ.
  • J. We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom.  We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy and well-being of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
